of the film Hidden Figures
(Newsroom Story)

Overview

When the hit film Hidden Figures, the true story of three Black American women instrumental in putting the first man in space (and safely bringing him back) in the 1960s, was released, many praised it’s represenatation of Black women in STEM careers. AT&T wanted to showcase their own commitment to diversity in STEM in conjunctin with the film’s release. As such, the Diversity & Inclusion team sponsored nationwide screenings for predominately Black middle and high school students in theaters across the country. Each screening included a Q&A session with an AT&T employee working in a STEM career, and in certain locations features local politicians and even stars from the film. In total, more than 3,000 students were able to experience Hidden Figures in an even more special way.
